Fillin' Station Diner Reviews
Wow! This place was great! I was driving through the area and saw this diner had wonderful reviews and decided to give it a try. I ordered a Philly steak hoagie with onion rings and an iced tea. All of it was delicious. The big stand out for this place was how nice everyone was. There were 5 ladies working the floor and behind a small counter and they were so incredibly nice to me and to each other. They created a really warm and inviting experience for me. Thank you!
This is a nice local spot in Hollywood. I stopped in for lunch with a family member, got seated at a booth, and ordered the pecan chicken blt. The restaurant itself was spotless (excellent job on the cleaning!), and the waitress was friendly and checked-in with us just the right amount to see if we needed refills or anything else. Seating includes booths, flat-top tables, and stools at the counter. The pecan chicken blt overall was delicious...I wasn't expecting the chicken to be bite sized pieces, but it definitely helped in terms of making the sandwich more manageable to hold and eat. If anything, I could probably have gone for a little more lettuce & tomato, but that's a minor thing. We were completely full between the sandwich and fries, so we'll have to sample the incredible looking desserts on display next visit!
Happened upon this place during our drive from Charleston to Hilton Head and we are so glad!! The iced tea was perfect on a very hot day and my glass was kept as full as I wanted it to be! That is 5-star worthy for sure. In addition, we got the fried okra, GTO burger, Bel Air burger, coconut pie, AND pecan pie a la mode. So good!! The okra was lava hot, so be warned! We both burnt our lips on the first bite. The burger weren't overly salted or peppered which allowed the flavor of the meat and toppings to shine through - yum! The pecan pie was perfection, not sickeningly sweet like some pecan pie you get. The coconut pie we really good. I could have done with a more custardy custard, but the abundance of toasty coconut on top made up for it! Definitely the type of diner I like to find on a road trip!!
Road trip!!! After reading about this diner on Yelp at the end of April, a group of us finally picked a Saturday and car pooled up there. It's an easy drive from CHS and took us around 30 minutes. We pulled in at exactly 11 AM, when they were opening. It's super cute and has a ton of license plates from different states and lots of cute other signage on the walls. There was four of us. We stared with a couple apps, deep fried pickles and pork rinds. Be sure to order the house dipping sauce. It's delicious!!! The ranch seemed store bought so I'd stay away from that. We all ordered a burger and a side. They have a great selection of burgers and they've won a ton of awards for their burgers and rightfully so. Seasoned and cooked to everyone's desired temps. I went with the GTO. One because of Seinfeld and two because of all the cheese that came on it!!! I got fries for my side and continued to use the house made sauce to dip those in. So good. I had plenty of leftovers and got a piece of their caramel pecan cheesecake. I'm so glad we made the trip and love supporting local!
The burgers and other sandwiches here are awesome good. My brother had a half pound burger all dressed up and he said it was the best he could remember having in a long time. I had a bologna sandwich and I savored every bite. The slab of bologna was fried and about 1/4" thick. I had it with lettuce, tomato, onion, and cheese on a potato roll. Yummmm.
